Not all those who wander are lost

Torrevieja Friday Market
Google, of course, has many uses. But remember - it only knows what it is told.
We set off to the market in good time. It is about a 40 minute walk from our apartment in Playa las Locos.
The market is next to the Aquopolis, and from the sea front is not (unless you know the area) a straight forward route. But google walking maps came to the rescue. Although as we strode off Google informed us the market was closed.
We pressed on anyway - rather full of doubts as to its actual closure!
And we found it. Open. And thronging.
This is a big market, by any standards. And it is very popular. It offers up a fairly traditional array of stalls, which are organised by type - lots of vegetable and fruit stalls at one end, and clothing stalls at the other, with various other stalls loosely intermingled.
But the choice is very good. You can do your fruit and vegetable shopping here, and save a lot of Euros, and end up with a very good range of stuff. Likewise, the clothes stalls offer a big variety of both cost and styles.
The seasoned attendees, of course, know where they are going. Some of the stalls are virtually sold out fairly quickly! For the new visitor, walking all the stalls is going to need at least an hour.
There is also a decent provision of loos - a big plus point. And some cafes, too, to top up the coffee levels and get a snack. And a largish car park, although it was more or less full.
This is a must visit market for us. We will be getting here as soon as we next arrive to top up the cupboards!
The only note of caution is common to most markets. Beware the free olive tasting. You will get presented with a tub of olives and a bill. But you knew that, I suspect, already. Free lunches, and all that.
So remember. Google is not always right. And when in Torrevieja, seek out the Friday market, which is probably open!
